Council updates  |  3 May 2019

Christchurch City Council is meeting on Thursday, 9 May. The main items on the agenda for the public part of the meeting are:

  • Reports from all the Community Boards outlining the major issues and projects in their areas.
  • A report from the Papanui-Innes Community Board which recommends the Council authorise the stopping of part of the legal road adjacent to 110 Sawyers Arms Road
  • A report from the Coastal-Burwood Community Board recommending the Council lower the speed limit on Marine Parade, Hawke Street and Beresford Street to 30kmh.
  • A report from the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee recommending the Council give the developers of an innovative new building in Cathedral Square a 35-year Deed of Licence that will allow the canopy, columns and foundation of the building to encroach onto the Square.
  • A report seeking a Council decision on whether it should take over leadership of the Regeneration Strategy for Southshore and South New Brighton.
  • A Hearings Panel report on the QEII Park Master Plan. The report recommends the Council adopt the plan with some amendments.
  • A report which recommends the Council make a grant of $25,000 to Pillars from the Community Resilience Partnership Fund. The report also recommends the Council makes a grant of $45,000 to Tangata Atumotu Trust.
  • A report recommending the Council put the co-created draft Christchurch Arts Strategy, Toi Ōtautahi, out for consultation.
  • A report updating the Council on progress in giving effect to the Council’s strategic priorities.
  • A report which asks the Council to endorse the proposed process to enable the Council to review and consider annual Living Wage rate adjustments for employees through its remuneration process.
  • A report seeking Council endorsement of a draft submission on the Public Inquiry into the Earthquake Commission.
  • A report outlining the Council’s response to the 15 March mosque shootings.
  • A report from the Chief Executive summarising the organisation’s performance during April 2019.
  • A report from the Mayor on the external activities she has undertaken over the past month.
