Roads will be closed and traffic diverted at night while gantries are installed on State Highway 1 near the Waimakariri Bridge, north of Christchurch.
The Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says the Christchurch Northern Corridor work will require lane and full road closures from this Sunday night until October.
The lane closures or diversions will be in place from 10pm until 5am the next day, over 18 nights. Detours will be signposted.
The overhead gantries will support traffic signs.
Agency Portfolio Delivery Manager Colin MacKay says the workers will need to reduce traffic lanes or close both lanes in one direction for several nights.
“For one night, we will need to close all motorway lanes in both directions,” he says.
