Peppa Pig and George

Peppa Pig and George are coming to Christchurch for KidsFest.

The Peppa Pig and George show is the closing event of KidsFest and all tickets are free.

There will be two sessions of the interactive show on Sunday 21 July – one at 11am and one at 1pm, with pre-show entertainment, including food trucks, face-painting, art workshops and more, on offer in Victoria Square from 10am.

“Peppa Pig is hugely popular with kids so we expect the free tickets will get snapped up very quickly so if you want to secure seats make sure you book early,’’ says Christchurch City Council Events and Arts Manager Lucy Blackmore.

The tickets will be available online from the KidsFest website from 9am on Tuesday 4 June.

“We will have some special ‘meet and greet’ family passes to give away through the KidsFest Facebook page so make sure you keep an eye out for your opportunity to win those,’’ Ms Blackmore says.

This year KidsFest includes more than 260 events across Christchurch, Waimakariri and Selwyn.

The KidsFest fun will begin on Saturday 6 July with KidsFest at the Movies – a free day of movies at the Hoyts EntX cinema complex in Christchurch’s city centre. The whole complex has been hired out for the day and three of the latest children’s movies – Toy Story 4, Secret Life of Pets 2, and Detective Pikachu - will be shown over three sessions.

Other not-to-be-missed KidsFest events include:

  • The Big Chill where kids will be able to skate, scoot, rollerblade, bounce, jump on a crazy bike, shoot some hoops, play ball, get their face painted, and enjoy a free Hellers sausage sizzle with family and friends in the heart of Linwood.
  • The Christchurch Brick Show at Horncastle Arena where kids can have a go with robotics, mechanics, Lego energy generators and more.
  • The KidsFest Pool Parties, which are being held at Pioneer, Taiora QEII, Jellie Park and Graham Condon pools and provide kids with a chance to have fun on inflatables, dance in the water and play some pool games.

Tickets for all KidsFest events will be available on the KidsFest website from 9am, Tuesday 4 June.

KidsFest brochures will be delivered to Christchurch primary schools at the end of this week. They will also be available at local libraries and service centres.
