Council updates  |  28 Nov 2023

Former Christchurch City Council Executive Leadership Team Member Jane Parfitt is returning to the Council as Interim General Manager Infrastructure, Planning and Regulatory Services.

Mrs Parfitt has worked in local government for over 30 years and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

“I simply couldn’t turn down the opportunity to lend a hand in steadying the organisation which is facing a variety of challenges,” she said.

“I consider it a privilege to come back and work with Mary Richardson and her staff whom I’ve always held in high regard.

“It is also an honour to once again serve the community in which I live,” Mrs Parfitt said.

Acting Chief Executive Mary Richardson is looking forward to welcoming Mrs Parfitt back to the Executive Leadership Team.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have someone of Jane’s calibre, who knows the organisation inside and out, working alongside me.

“She headed up the city environment area for 10 years when she worked here previously, so I feel grateful to have a safe pair of hands heading up the infrastructure, planning and regulatory services group,” Ms Richardson said.

Mrs Parfitt worked at Christchurch City Council from 2003-2015, where she had the roles of General Manager City Environment, Acting Chief Executive, and Chief Operating Officer.  Prior to this she was the Chief Executive at Waimakariri District Council from 2000-2003.

Since leaving Christchurch City Council Mrs Parfitt has had advisory roles with Kaikoura District Council, Invercargill City Council, and Southland District Council.

Mrs Parfitt will take up her role on today, and will remain in the position until a permanent replacement is appointed next year.
