There's plenty going on in Christchurch over Easter to keep boredom at bay.
• Get on down to the central city for your last chance this summer to indulge at the Night Food Trucks in Cathedral Square. Hungry foodies can find their favourite food trucks in Cathedral Square one final time this Good Friday from 4-9pm.
• Take the kids on a night-time train trip through Halswell Domain. The Halswell Miniature Trains will be running at the domain on Sunday from 7 to 9pm, as well as between 1 and 4pm. Both sessions are dependent on the weather being fine. Alternatively take the kids to Ferrymead Heritage Park on either Sunday or Monday and ride the steam trains and trams. Each child will get an Easter egg when they arrive and can join in a Bunny Trail with the chance to win a Family Annual Pass to the park valued at $150.
• If you are into sport head down to Centennial Park on Easter Monday for PHITfest. This Pacific Island community sports day will provide you with the chance to watch the entertaining Samoan version of cricket and also give you an opportunity to sample some Pacific Island foods. Activities for the kids include Zorb balls and bouncy castles.
• For culture vultures the Christchurch Art Gallery is open all weekend, with a special Easter screening of Jesus Christ Superstar on Saturday at 2pm. If you haven't checked out the Spectrum Street Art festival, based at the YMCA, head there this weekend as its run is due to come to an end on April 17. Canterbury Museum will also be open throughout Easter, with its latest exhibition Alternative Radio: RDU 98.5FM since 1976, a draw card for young and old.
• Get in one last swim for the summer during Jellie Park's Final Splash Down party on Sunday. Open to all ages, the party starts at midday and runs through until 4pm.
