Spend some time within nature this weekend, and embrace the outdoors!

City Nature Challenge 2023

If you love taking photos of plants and animals while you’re exploring our parks, then this online bioblitz is for you! The City Nature Challenge begins today, and will give you the opportunity to find plants, animals and fungi, take a picture and share via the free app, INaturalist.

Get involved in a little bit of friendly competition, more information here. Also, join red zone rangers today from 10am to ramble along Retreat Road. Email sarah.makelow@ccc.govt.nz to register.

Celebrate Ōtautahi through play

We've been working hard to develop a new identity for our city, Ōtautahi Christchurch. A key part of that identity is that Ōtautahi Christchurch is a city in pursuit of balance, where we make space and time for play.

Head to Tūranga, 60 Cathedral Square, from 11:30am - 4pm on Saturday to join us and celebrate the new city identity through play! This is a free event, find out more here.

Brass of the east for the people of the north

Come along to a benefit concert this Saturday to raise funds for those up north who have suffered great losses because of Cyclone Gabrielle.

Brass bands, Jazzamatazz Jazz Choir and the Red and Black Jazz Band are on the programme for you to enjoy! Head down to the Salvation Army Citadel from 4pm – 6pm with a donation for entry. All raised money will go to Red Cross NZ.
