Hot Brown Honey has delivered a scorching and sassy performance featuring a compelling rap and powerful moves during a Buskers Festival Bread & Circus sampler.

One of the festival's headline acts, the group's cabaret show will reverberate around the hallowed Assembly Hall of Christ’s College as Bread & Circus  swings into action in Christchurch.

Another headline show, LIMBO, features a sublime mix of cabaret, circus and acrobatics – along with a fabulous fire breather.

The fiery lady in red has also brought more heat to the day with a daredevil display.

However, Bread & Circus really fires up in the festival hub, a large travelling tent decorated with mirrors and stained glass known as The Spiegeltent.

The Victorian venue will host LIMBO until 3 February.

Meanwhile, the third act of the sampler session, the Daredevil Chicken Club’s Banana Split, will ensure that you never eat another slice of the fruit.

All glitz and glamour, hot duo Marc and Svetlana do things with a banana that need to be seen to be believed. They will be spreading their magical mash-up at pitches across the city from tomorrow.

Strut and Fret Producer Jess Rankin says Bread & Circus is shaping up for a fantastic season packed with superb shows.

The Melbourne-based arts and events company has reimagined the annual festival.

“We are very happy with how things are going – apart from a few missing bags that soon turned up,” she says.

“We love the openness and enthusiasm of the people of Christchurch when it comes to the festival – it all makes it very exciting.

“We also have a great setting, with Worcester Boulevard the artery of the festival.”

In all, 52 acts – many new to the festival – will deliver 527 performances.

The festival takes centre stage until Sunday 3 February.
