Get the winter school holidays sorted with KidsFest.

Tickets are available from today at kidsfest.co.nz.

Organisers are recommending that people get in early to avoid disappointment.

“While there are hundreds of activities and events on offer, tickets are always snapped up fast,” says Christchurch City Council Events and Arts Manager Lucy Blackmore.

KidsFest starts on Saturday 9 July and runs for two weeks until Sunday 24 July. The annual programme of events is aimed at school-aged children and features a range of activities across Christchurch, Banks Peninsula, Selwyn and Waimakariri.

“Favourites like the Christchurch Brick Show are back this year to delight and entertain the whole family,” says Ms Blackmore.

“There are also some exciting new events like the Movie Making with LEGO two-hour classes, where kids will learn some movie magic and special effects techniques. After class, they’ll get a download link of their movie creations to show off.

“For kids that enjoy books and reading, there’s an opportunity to sign up to be a librarian for a morning and learn about everything that goes on at our city’s libraries.

“Kids can also ride for free on the Christchurch Tram while trying out the animal spotting safari, with a paying adult.

“Or if your kids like to go at their own pace, sign them up for the self-guided Magical Forest Trail in the Botanic Gardens, where they’ll discover the plants of the Pacific Islands.

“There’s something for everyone at KidsFest. Browse the full list of activities, build your own printable schedule and book tickets at kidsfest.co.nz.”

KidsFest is produced by Christchurch City Council.
