This year’s popular winter spectacle Botanic D’Lights 2020 Tīrama has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event, which was scheduled for August, is now being planned for June 2021. However, this will depend on how the situation develops, with the Council continuing to take advice from the Ministry of Health.
Mary Richardson, who is leading Christchurch City Council’s COVID-19 Incident Management Team, says the Council is following the Government’s advice and cancelling or postponing future events until the situation becomes clearer.
“We will be working closely with the artists, contractors and sponsors who are involved in this event on re-arrangements for next year.”
Every two years, Botanic D’Lights transforms Christchurch Botanic Gardens into a spectacle of illuminated artworks and innovative light installations.
