A Chinese-speaking service is now available at Christchurch City Libraries.
Christchurch City Council Head of Libraries and Information Carolyn Robertson says two staff members can assist the local Chinese community with their queries during the alert level 3 period.
“As part of our Book a Librarian – Librarian in your Lounge service, we have two of our fantastic Mandarin-speaking librarians ready to offer a Chinese-speaking service on Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm and on Fridays from 10am to 1pm,” Ms Robertson says.
“Our Book a Librarian online form also has a Chinese translation for the basic information needed to complete and submit the form.
“Members of the Chinese community can simply book a session online with one of our fluent Mandarin speakers to get help with a wide range of technology queries and access to resources to support study, school, work, and learning.
“They can also help out with access to Chinese and children’s resources.
“We are excited to offer this new service to our community during alert level 3, when physical access to our libraries is not possible for our customers.
“It is important that we all stay connected during this time of change and challenges.”
