The ninth anniversary of the 22 February 2011 earthquake will be marked with a public civic service at the Oi Manawa Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial.

The service will begin at 12.30pm on Saturday 22 February 2020, on the north bank of the Memorial site, on the corner of Montreal Street and Cambridge Terrace in the central city.

The Quake Families Trust is working closely with Christchurch City Council to plan the low key-event, which is expected to take around 45 minutes. It will be followed by the opportunity for people to lay floral tributes at the Memorial Wall across the river.

Further details of the service and event logistics will be provided nearer the time.
