The full festival programme will be released this October, with hundreds of performances by local and international acts in the central city.

Festival galas will return to the Isaac Theatre Royal, while the long-table dining event, Feast of Fools, will be held at an “iconic” Christchurch location.

Roving buskers and busking pitches will again pop up at city spaces.

The director of festival organiser Strut & Fret NZ, Scott Maidment, says festival planning is in full swing, with “some exciting announcements coming later in the year”.

ChristchurchNZ Head of Major and Business Events Karena Finnie says Bread & Circus has evolved into an “international-quality event”.

“Our focus this year will be on attracting people from all over New Zealand to attend the festival, showcasing Christchurch and the talent attracted to our city,” Ms Finnie says.
