Council updates  |  6 Sep 2019

Christchurch City Council is meeting on Thursday, 12 September. The main items on the agenda for the public part of the meeting are:

  • Reports from all the Community Boards outlining the major issues and projects in their areas.
  • A report from the Banks Peninsula Community Board recommending the Council approve speed limit changes for a number of roads within the Lyttelton Harbour and Gebbies Pass areas.
  • A report from the Coastal-Burwood Community Board recommending the Council request advice on the possibility of bringing forward for the Mairehau/Burwood Roads intersection safety improvements.
  • A report form a joint meeting of the Coastal-Burwood and Papanui-Innes Community Boards on the Marshland, Spencerville and Kainga Area Speed Management Plan.
  • A report from a joint meeting of the Coastal-Burwood and Papanui-Innes Community Board which recommends the installation of new traffic signals outside 215 Marshland Road.
  • A report from the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board which recommends the Council makes speed limit changes on some roads within the Hornby and Halswell wards.
  • A report from the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board which recommends that Council staff be requested to prepare a draft development plan for a cemetery and sports park on Council owned land in Templeton.
  • A report from the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board on the building scope for the Hornby library, customer services, and south west leisure centre.
  • A report from the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board which recommends the Council approve the Lancaster Park Draft Spatial Plan.
  • A report from the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board which recommends the Council makes speed limit changes in Sumner Village and Woolston Village.
  • A report from the Papanui-Innes Community Board which recommends the Council makes speed limit changes in the immediate suburban area around Papanui Village and Northlands Mall.
  • A report from the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board which recommends the Council approve the installation of a signalised pedestrian crossing on Wilsons Road South, by Hillview School.
  • A report from the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board which requests the Council recognise the value of the riparian margins of our rivers and waterways and works to reduce invasive weeds through ecological riparian margin management.
  • A report from the Social, Community Development and Housing Committee which recommends the Council agree to the permanent installation of an artwork, Kaurna Wailyu, in the Adelaide Sister City Garden.
  • A report from the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee on Harewood Road/Gardiners Road/Breens Road intersection improvements.
  • A report from the Innovation and Sustainable Development Committee which recommends the Council adopt a net zero greenhouse gas emission target (excluding methane) of 2045 for Christchurch.
  • A report which recommends the Council approve the draft submission on Environment Canterbury’s Proposed Plan Change 7 Land & Water Regional Plan and Proposed Plan Change 2 Waimakariri River Regional Plan.
  • A report from the Council’s Acting Chief Executive summarising the organisation’s performance during August 2019.
