Council updates  |  7 Jun 2019

Christchurch City Council is meeting on Thursday, 13 June. The main items on the agenda for the public part of the meeting are:

  • A report from the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board which recommends the Council delegate the sign-off of the main contract for Linwood Pool to the Council’s Chief Executive.
  • A report from the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board which recommends the Council extend the variable 40kmh speed limit on Sparks Road to Hoon Hay Road so it is safer for children accessing Hoon Hay Primary School and Our Lady of the Assumption School.
  • A report from the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board which recommends the Council approve the landscape plan for Roto Kohatu Reserve, which includes two new permanent toilet blocks.
  • A report from the Linwood-Central-Heathcote and Papanui-Innes Community Boards recommending the Council not endorse the Downstream Effects Management Plan, which outlines how the Council should deal with the traffic changes likely to result from the opening of the Christchurch Northern Corridor.
  • A report which recommends the Council endorse an approach to devolve greater decision-making authority and responsibilities to Community Boards.
  • A report which recommends the Council approve a loan of $75,000, through its Community Loans Scheme, to the Burnside Rugby Club so it can gets its changing rooms earthquake strengthened.
  • Reports from all the Community Boards outlining the major issues and projects in their areas.
  • A report from a Hearings Panel which recommends the Council agree to the request from the Akaroa Community Health Trust for a one-off Council grant of $1.3 million. The Hearings Panel is recommending the Council recover the amount of the grant through a fixed charge targeted rate over a four-year period to be paid by the ratepayers in the Akaroa subdivision of the Banks Peninsula ward.
  • A report updating Council on the actions taken in response to the recommendations included in Bruce Robertson’s 2018 Review into Management of Bore Water Security. 
  • A report from the Council’s Chief Executive which provides a summary of the Council’s organisational performance for May.
  • A report from the Mayor on the external activities she has undertaken over the past month.
