Consultation on proposed changes to the use of Kyle Park is set to begin.

Consultation will start on the future use of Kyle Park.

The next step towards getting the facility built is to consult on the proposed change of reserve classification for part of the park, and an amendment to the park’s Management Plan to enable construction to go ahead.

The decision to proceed with consultation was made at last night’s Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board meeting.

The proposed community facilities, which include a library and a pool, aim to meet significant growth in the city's south-west. They new facilities are expected to open in late 2022.

Public submissions will be sought on the proposed use of the park for the new facility. The consultation period is scheduled to begin next month.

A hearings panel made up of elected members will consider any submissions. Submitters will also be able to make presentations in person. Once the submissions have been considered, the panel will recommend to the Community Board whether to proceed.
