A two day expo at Christchurch’s new convention and exhibition centre, Te Pae, is set to strengthen the city’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and technology growth.

The 2021 Smart Christchurch Innovation Expo scheduled for 31 October and 1 November will be one of the first events at Te Pae that will be open to the public to attend.

Organised by Smart Christchurch, the free expo will showcase new technologies and innovations and provide a forum for people to share ideas and connect with others who are thinking outside the box.

“There will be more than 100 interactive exhibits from industry trailblazers, emerging start-ups, social enterprises and academic institutions that will collectively showcase how resourceful and inventive we are in so many areas of our lives,’’ says Smart Christchurch Manager Michael Healy.

“People will be able to find out how new technology is changing the way we do things and see new robotics, virtual reality and other innovative products in action.

“During the expo we will also have a series of thought-provoking panel discussions and keynote sessions that will explore things like what the future of transport might look like and how climate change is opening up new opportunities for innovation,’’ Mr Healy says.

“We’re hoping that people of all ages and all walks of life will come to the expo. It will be a chance to learn, experience innovative solutions and to get inspired so keep the dates free.’’

More details about the expo, the programme and the exhibitors who will be taking part will be released closer to the time.
