Grants to help pay for the conservation and maintenance of two heritage buildings have been approved today by Christchurch City Council.

A heritage grant has been approved for this Queen Anne-style house in Montreal St.

Councillors agreed to give a grant of up to $127,415 for the conservation and maintenance of a protected heritage building at 75 St David’s St in Lyttelton, subject to some conditions.

The building, a stone villa, was built in 1867 but suffered significant damage in the earthquakes.

The Council also approved a Heritage Incentive Grant of up to $3667 for the conservation and maintenance of a Queen Anne-style building at 311 Montreal St.

Councillors also agreed to give a one-year time extension for a previously approved Heritage Incentive Grant given to the owners of an historic building at 88 Chester St East.
