Christchurch City Council will consider a report tomorrow which recommends it treat the city’s water supply with chlorine until work has been completed on upgrading the below ground well heads.
The report has been prepared by Council staff and will be considered by Mayor Lianne Dalziel and Councillors in public during tomorrow’s Council meeting.
The meeting starts at 9.30am. It is expected the report on the water issues will be considered about 10am.
The report has been prompted by concern that some of the city’s below ground wells are not sufficiently sealed to eliminate the risk of contaminated surface water seeping into them.
