Christchurch City Council is marking World Wellness Weekend by offering free entry to its fitness centres on Saturday 21 September.

The fitness centres at Pioneer, Graham Condon, Jellie Park and Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport Centres will all be open from 7am for people to come and use, free of charge.

Free group fitness taster classes will also be run at 11.30am at Pioneer and Taiora QEII and at 3.30pm at Jellie Park.

The minimum age for the fitness classes is 14 while the minimum age for fitness centre entry is 16 years.

“This is a great chance to get a taster of what our fitness centres have to offer and to talk to our staff about how they might be able to help you achieve your fitness and wellness goals,’’ says Council Head of Recreation, Sports and Events Nigel Cox.

“We offer programmes and activities for people of all fitness levels so even if you’ve never stepped foot in a gym before, you should come along on Saturday and check us out.’’
