Superstar Elton John is coming to Christchurch after the music legend added an extra show to his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

The just-announced show will be at Christchurch’s Orange Theory Stadium on Tuesday 24 January 2023, ahead of two rescheduled performances at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on 27 and 28 January.

Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel is over the moon at the announcement.

“Elton John was who I grew up with! I’m so grateful he’s chosen to include Ōtautahi Christchurch in his farewell tour,” she says.

“I know that people are going to come out in their droves to be part of this historic event.”

This will be the star’s first show in the city for more than thirty years.

It's also local fans’ last chance to catch the powerhouse performer live on stage as Farewell Yellow Brick Road is his final tour.

The tour began back in 2018 and after a two-year COVID hiatus Elton John is now back on stage, currently on the road in North America and performing his final US concert in November.

If you missed out last time, or if once wasn’t enough, come along and say goodbye to this beloved performer. Tickets will go fast so don’t miss out on this unforgettable showman.

Tickets for the Christchurch concert will go on sale on Monday 1 August.
