Treetech Sparks is celebrating its 40th birthday on Saturday 21 January. Here’s everything you need to know to enjoy a cracker night at one of the city’s favourite events.
Treetech Sparks is a free, all ages outdoor concert being held in North Hagley Park, with pre-show entertainment starting at 6.30pm, with Ambush Brass. The main show starts at 7.30pm and culminates in a massive fireworks display at around 9.40pm.
The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra is taking to the stage along with a host of special guests. A packed programme of classical favourites, kapa haka and contemporary hits will wow the crowds.
Guests include violinist Fiona Pears, Christchurch-based singer Naomi Ferguson, celebrated local musician Henare Kaa, and Mark Vanilau performing with the’orchard – to name just a few. There are plenty more surprise guests lined up, covering a range of musical genres and styles.
People are welcome to bring a picnic or choose from one of the food vendors on site.
