The weekend weather is looking good for outdoor activities and there's plenty on offer in Ōtautahi Christchurch, from summer theatre to a poolside movie and a classic A&P show.
Experience some classic kiwi fun at the Little River A&P Show on Saturday at Awa-Iti Domain on Banks Peninsula. With horse events, sheep shearing, dog jumping, duck herding, wood chopping, gumboot tossing and magic shows, the whole family will be entertained!
Bring a picnic or enjoy the variety of food caravans on offer. Gates are open from 8am until 7pm with entry ranging from free to $20.
Entries close 10am on the day for the following sections - flowers, homegrown fruit and vegetables, photographs, arts and crafts, baking and preserves, pet lambs or sheep.
Come along to Redwood Park where you can listen to stories, sing some songs and enjoy the summer at Stories in the Park! This free, family event is aimed at preschoolers and primary aged children. Play games, visit the mobile library van, make a craft, take a Story Walk and enjoy a delicious sausage sizzle at Redwood Park, 11am-12.30pm Saturday.
Don’t forget to bring your picnic blanket, water bottle and sunscreen.
Bring your chairs, blanket and picnic to the Archery Lawn at the Botanic Gardens for alfresco dining and theatrical entertainment accompanied by live music. Three talented actors will bring the stories and lives of those aboard the RMS Titanic in Anthony Harper Summer Theatre’s irreverent retelling of the iconic 1912 voyage.
