Christchurch Art Gallery is inviting doodlers and dab hands of all ages to make their mark this school holidays.
From now until 14 October – along with Labour Day weekend – people can pick up a paintbrush to help create a massive piece of public art on the Gallery’s walls.
A public paint-out, Wall to Wall, will be held at the Art Gallery.
Titled Wall to Wall, the event presents the opportunity to be involved in a “colossal public paint-out” of one of the downstairs galleries.
Christchurch Art Gallery Visitor Services Manager Amy Harrington says the Wall to Wall project opens the door to greater art interaction.
“We are encouraging everyone to grab a brush and bring your perspective to this special art space,” Ms Harrington says.
“We aim to create an immersive gallery where everyone – no matter your age – can take a collaborative approach to art.”
Ms Harrington says the exhibition, which is open from 11am to 4pm, highlights the “value of connecting with our art culture, and the role we can all play in developing our artistic identity”.
“Whether you like to doodle, dab or draw, our blank canvas sets the scene for plenty of colourful creativity,” she says.
