Property owners in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula can now opt to receive their rates bill by email.

From this month Christchurch City Council is offering people the choice of whether they want to receive their quarterly rates invoice and assessment notice by email or through the post.

Signing up to get your rates bill by email is easy. All you need to do is register at

You will need your October rates invoice with you when you fill out the form as you will need your valuation number and unique document number to register for the service.

Once you have registered, you will receive your next rates invoice notice by email.

“We know many people prefer to get their bills emailed to them so we are pleased to be able to offer this service to our residents,’’ says Council General Manager, Finance and Commercial, Carol Bellette.
