Christchurch City Council’s newest community pool facility has impressed the judges in this year’s New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.

Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool, built for the Council by construction company Apollo Projects, won the gold award in the tourism and leisure category of the awards.

“We’re thrilled the top quality work that Apollo Projects did in building this new aquatic facility for the Linwood community has been recognised in this way,’’ says Brent Smith, Acting Head of Vertical Capital Delivery at the Council.

“Apollo Projects completed construction two months ahead of schedule. The Linwood community campaigned for a long time for a pool and now they have a wonderful facility that both young and old can enjoy. It is a real asset for the local community,’’ Mr Smith says.

Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool opened to the public in October 2021.

The $22 million complex features a multi-use 25-metre lane pool, a deep-water manu/splash pool, a family spa pool, learn-to-swim pool, and a pool for toddlers. Community meeting rooms and a kitchen connect to an outdoor gathering area with picnic tables, tennis and multi-use courts, cycle stands and parking.
