Kids are loving the autumn school holiday programme offered at local libraries.

Christchurch City Libraries are hosting more than 80 free or low cost events, including 3D printing demonstrations, a toy animal sleepover, and a Minecraft Game Zone session.

At the half-way mark of the school holidays, all of libraries' learning centre events are fully booked, with the line-up proving popular with children and their parents. Some free drop-in events are still available.

Christchurch City Council Programme Design Team Leader Rosie Levi said these holidays had been one of the most successful so far for the libraries. "The programme has gone splendidly and we're very happy with the results. We've had some rave reviews from children who have taken part."

Some of the hottest events were technology based, including the Claymation stop motion animation class, Lego Mindstorm Robotics and Animal Doodle Design which combines art and technology. "Those events were new these holidays and they filled up very quickly," Mrs Levi said.

She suggested parents looking for school holiday events should start looking at the schedule about a month before the term ends next time around to make sure they don't miss out.
