Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel has acknowledged the release today of four reports on the Government’s Three Waters Reform Programme.

The reports form part of the Government’s rationale for changing the way drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services are delivered throughout the country.

“It’s good that the Government is releasing these reports, but it’s important to be clear they don’t speak to local implications at this stage,” says Mayor Dalziel.

“The Government has commissioned these reports to independently verify its case for change at a national level.

“Council-specific data is the analysis councils most want to see, because any conversation about changing the way our water services are delivered needs to be evidence-based.

“Christchurch City Council is part of the Three Waters Steering Committee that has been providing important feedback on the Government’s proposal, and I look forward to the release of the analysis specific to Christchurch.”
