Do you know someone who gives up their time to help others or goes above and beyond to make a big difference in their local community?

Now is the time to nominate those local heroes for a Christchurch City Council Civic Award.

Whether it comes from an individual, society, association, club or group, anyone can nominate a worthy candidate for consideration.

Nominations can be made for individuals and organisations whose volunteer work has had a major impact on the local or wider Christchurch community, boosting the quality of life in the city.

Council Civic and International Relations Manager Matt Nichols says the Civic Awards offer the ideal opportunity to publicly acknowledge those people who have gone the extra mile.

“We are looking for people and groups who have generously given their time and energy to benefit others,” Mr Nichols says.

“We want to share the stories of those Christchurch residents and groups who have made such a big difference to so many others, or perhaps the environment and community well-being.

“We are fortunate that these people are part of our local community, and these awards go some way towards acknowledging their selfless acts.”

To nominate an individual or group for a Civic Award, simply fill out the form available online and send back to the Council.

You can also contact the Council’s Civic and International Relations Team for more information.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday, 23 August.
