Head of Recreation, Sports and Events Nigel Cox says team leader roles will be advertised in late February, with the majority of recruitment taking place from June to August.
“We’re looking for great people to help us create an amazing environment at this world class facility,” says Mr Cox.
The new roles will include both part time and full time positions.
“We’re looking for people to work in events, facility management, and customer experience. We’re also looking for fitness instructors, swimming instructors, lifeguards, aquatic sensory staff – and more,” says Mr Cox.
At 32,000m2, Parakiore will be the largest facility of its kind in New Zealand, featuring multi-purpose indoor courts, swimming pools, hydroslides, an aquatic sensory space, a gym, movement studios, and group fitness rooms.
“It’s going to be a vibrant and diverse place to work, with special events and activities happening alongside our regular offerings like swimming lessons and social sports leagues,” says Mr Cox.
Parakiore will play host to the 2025 Special Olympics National Summer Games in December.
“I encourage anyone that’s interested in joining the team to come along to one of our information sessions,” says Mr Cox.
The first information session will be held at Tūranga on Wednesday 5 March from 4pm to 6pm.
“This is a great chance for people to meet the team, learn more about the roles we have coming up, and ask questions about the application process,” says Mr Cox.
Another information session will be held in June, when the bulk of the roles will be advertised. Full details about the first information session are available here.
Roles will be advertised at cccjobs.co.nz over the coming months, starting with team leader positions in late February.
Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre will open in late 2025 and will be owned and operated by Christchurch City Council. Crown Infrastructure Delivery Ltd (formerly Rau Paenga) is responsible for the construction and delivery of the centre.
