Ali Jones has been elected the Innes ward’s newest representative on the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board.

With 20.57% of Innes electors voting in the by-election, the progress results show:

  • Ali Jones, Independent, has 1,807 votes
  • Mike Davidson, For a Safer, Greener Innes, has 638 votes
  • Mark Wilson, Independent Voice for Innes, has 367 votes
  • Moazzem Hossain has 283 votes
  • Mahlon Saumalu, Independent, has 180 votes
  • Harrison McEvoy, Independent, has 85 votes
  • Garry Neale, Independent, has 37 votes

Christchurch City Council Electoral Officer Jo Daly hopes to declare the final results by Thursday 23 February 2023.

Ali Jones will be sworn in at the next Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board meeting on Thursday 9 March.

“With this extraordinary vacancy filled it means Christchurch City Council’s elected representation is complete for the first time since October’s local elections,” Ms Daly says.

“It was great to see so many candidates putting themselves forward to represent the community.”

Progress results are the ordinary votes counted up to 17 February. Final results will include votes received today and special votes.
