If you’re looking for bubble, you’ve come to the right place.

With Christchurch City Council’s Draft Long Term Plan 2024–2034 in the spotlight, its online budget tool is making it easier for people to find out about the Council’s planned projects, when they’re due and how much they’ll cost.

Head of Communications and Engagement Katy McRae says the beauty of the tool is how it takes complex information and makes it more accessible to more people.

“Our Draft LTP has lots of spreadsheets, if that’s how you like to get your information. However, if reading lines of data isn’t your thing, then you need to try the online budget tool.

“Whether you’re using a laptop, tablet or phone, you’ll see each project as a colourful bubble – the bigger the bubble, the bigger the project. It’s a really visual and user-friendly way to see how that project’s funding stacks up against other projects, says Ms McRae.

“You can search by the area you live in, the type of project, the project name or even just a key word. For this LTP we’ve also got a new feature which lets you view all the projects in your community board area. This means you can get a better idea of what’s planned for your whole community, and how it all fits together.”

“Another new feature is that you can give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down to projects, which will help councillors get a sense of the community’s priorities as they make the big decisions when adopting the LTP in June.”
