Christchurch City Council is postponing the Smart Christchurch Innovation Expo that was scheduled to take place in February.

“Unfortunately it is not feasible to hold the Smart Christchurch Innovation Expo under the Red setting on the COVID-19 Protection Framework,’’ says Smart Christchurch Manager Michael Healy.

“This is the second time we have had to postpone the expo but it is the right thing to do given the setting we’re at and the risk of Omicron spreading in the community.’’

The Smart Christchurch Expo was originally scheduled to be held from 31 October to 1 November but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 lockdown last August.

The expo was rescheduled to 20 and 21 February 2022. It was going to be one of the first public events held at Te Pae Christchurch.

“We are working with the management team at Te Pae Christchurch to secure some new dates later in the year when the expo can go ahead.

“We had some great exhibitors lined up to take part in the expo. We will be working with them to ensure that they still have the opportunity to showcase their new technologies and innovations to the public and to each other.’’
