Knit Around the Tram

This Saturday is World Wide Knit in Public Day, so join other knitters and crocheters for a loop on the Christchurch Tram! Bring your knitting and crochet and friends, and after a loop pop along to Tūranga Library Foundation Café

There will be some wool and knitting needles available. Come along from 10am – 1pm, more information here.

Star Stories Badge Making with Ron Te Kawa

Join international fabric artist extraordinaire, Ron Te Kawa for a workshop creating star story badges for Matariki. Bring your creativeness and come learn from the master of fabric art at Christchurch Art Gallery on Sunday. This free drop in workshop will be on from 10.30am – 12pm.

Tabletop Tūranga

Tabletop games are taking over Tūranga! Come along to the second annual boardgaming festival, Tabletop Tūranga, at Christchurch’s central library this weekend. Join friends old and new for a great day of tabletop gaming, with staff and volunteers ready to help with rules and selection if you need.

Head down to Tūranga from 10am – 4pm Saturday and Sunday to get involved. There will also be a special games area for children’s games.  

Banks Peninsula hazardous waste drop-off day

This Saturday, Banks Peninsula residents can drop off their hazardous waste items for free at the Barrys Bay Transfer Station.  From 10am – 4pm, drop off for free the following hazardous waste items: waste oils, gas bottles and fire extinguishers, paints and solvents, household chemicals, aerosols, batteries, and argrichemicals.

Hazardous waste products should be dropped off in their original container. If they are stored in another container please write the name of the product on the container for easy identification. Find more information about disposing of hazardous waste items at ccc.govt.nz/hazardouswaste.

Gordon Scouts 2nd Annual Book Sale

This weekend, pop along to Gordon Scouts 2nd Annual Book Sale to grab a bargain! There will be thousands of books, magazines, games and puzzles starting priced for $2 - $5, all priced to go. Head down to Gordon Scout Den, 340 Avonhead Road, from 9am – 4pm Saturday and 9am – 12pm Sunday.

A sausage sizzle and market sales will also be there on the day.
