Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained? Christchurch City Libraries is hosting more than 900 free or low cost events inside and outside libraries across the city this summer.
This year the libraries team are taking the books outside to enjoy learning and creating amongst nature. With something for everyone, there is a wide range of activities to take part in, with events ranging from stories in the sun and craft-making to story walks and International Lego Day.
Christchurch City Council Head of Libraries Carolyn Robertson says summer is the perfect time to get the kids out of the house and into their local libraries.
“While the kids are on holiday it’s often tough to come up with ideas on how to keep them entertained. We’re lucky that Christchurch has so many fantastic libraries offering awesome events that gets kids involved in reading, creating and imagining.
“This year we’re focusing on taking the libraries to the outdoors. We have heaps of things on offer to get the kids outside, while still enjoying everything the library has on offer. It’s all about expanding the ways we can connect with our libraries.”
