Matuku Takotako: Sumner Centre will be closed between Christmas and New Year to allow minor work to be done on the building.

Some minor work needs to be done on the Matuku Takotako: Sumner Centre.

"We're taking the opportunity over the Christmas period  to allow contractors to complete some work on the polished ground floor.  The work is part of some minor defects still outstanding from when the facility was built in 2017, and is a normal part of any new build,” says Carolyn Robertson, Christchurch City Council Head of Libraries and Information.

"To cause as little disruption as possible to the community, we thought it would be best to use the Christmas holiday period.

"All the other Christchurch City Libraries in the network are staying open between Christmas and New Year, so people can still have plenty of options for getting their holiday fix of library items and services."

Matuku Takotako: Sumner Centre will close on Christmas Eve and reopen on New Year's Eve, Monday 31 December, before closing as normal for the public holidays.

Normal hours at the Matuku Takotako: Sumner Centre will resume from Thursday 3 January.
