Listening to Landscapes – Sound Walk

Listen to landscapes at a guided walk to Diamond Harbour locations of Margaret Stoddart paintings, approached by ear rather than eye! Cross-media artist Dr Jo Burzynska guides a walk in Waipapa Diamond Harbour to spots where impressionist painted Margaret Stoddart created her works.

Meet at the Diamond Harbour jetty shelter at 2:30pm, with the walk finishing at Stoddart Cottage at 3:30pm. This is a free event and no bookings are required. More here.

Stride by Stride

Head down to the Eastwood Gallery in Linwood Arts to enjoy the Stride by Stride exhibition – a show for artists with a moderate amount of exhibition experience.

The event forms part of the gallery’s progressive pathway of exhibitions, which is designed to offer exhibition opportunities as artists develop. 18 local artists will take part this year. The gallery is open from Midday to 5pm, read more here.

Sound the trumpet!

The Friends of the Christchurch Town Hall Organ Trust, with support from venues Ōtautahi present the annual organ curator’s concert on the magnificent pipe organ at Christchurch Town Hall.

Martin Setchell, the Town Hall organist plays alongside this year’s guest artist CSO principal trumpet Thomas Eves. This year’s concert will take place from 2pm – 3:15pm on Monday 5 June, with free admissions and an optional koha donation. Bookings are essential!

Heritage Stargazing

Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre and the University of Canterbury welcome you to join us on a stargazing experience in the heart of the city! Become a part of the long history of astronomy at The Observatory Tower. 

Make your way to The Arts Centre, 2 Worcester Boulevard from 8pm - 10pm Friday with your whānau to gaze through the Townsend Teece Telescope. These experiences run every Friday night until 22 September, weather dependent. Read more here.
