Ever wondered about who tread the floorboards of your house before you?
Shine some light on the history of your house.
During Beca Heritage Week you can get tips on how to find out the story of your house at a special Research Your House workshop.
Presenters from Heritage New Zealand, Archives New Zealand, Christchurch City Council and local archivists will be on hand to explain how you can find out information about your house from a vast array of resources.
They will show you how you can uncover the history of your house by searching through sources such as land deeds, building and architectural plans, wills, photographs, old newspapers, correspondence files, and rates records.
The workshop is on Tuesday, October 18, between 5.30 and 8.30pm and is free, but bookings are essential. To book email Melissa Reimer or call her on 03 363-1882.
