There will be a huge selection of models on display including some highly complex and electronically controlled models such as cranes, trains, and spirographs.

Kabaddi Cup & Vaisakhi Mela 2018

Head to Burnside Park between 11am and 6pm Saturday and watch teams compete for the Kabaddi Cup. Kabaddi is a sport that originated in India and is a bit like rugby – but without a ball.

The object of the game is for a single player on offence to run into the opposing team’s court, tag as many defenders as possible, and return to their own court, all without being tackled by the defenders.

Saturday’s tournament coincides with Vaisakhi Mela, the Sikh New Year festival, so in between watching the on-field action you can enjoy cultural dance performances and sample ethnic cuisine from the food stalls.

Golden Oldies

The month-long Christchurch Casino Golden Oldies Celebration of Sport gets under way in Christchurch this weekend. To find out more about the tournament and how you can get involved, check out the tournament's official website.
