Supporting communities  |  22 Dec 2022

I Love Brighton is back in 2023 with new sponsors and an expanded line-up of activities.

Held on Waitangi Day at Thomson Park the event began in the wake of the Christchurch earthquakes, as a way to lift the spirits of the community and celebrate all that Brighton has to offer.

Over the years it has grown to attract crowds of up to 5,000 people with a variety of activities including arts and culture, music, sports, games and a market.

Following a Covid-related hiatus in 2022, I Love Brighton returns on Monday 6 February with Kāinga Maha Trust and Home Construction joining the Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board as joint sponsors.

Kāinga Maha is a not-for-profit property developer and Home Construction an award-winning construction firm, both local companies with a commitment to social good.

Council's Head of Community Partnerships John Filsell says it’s an example of how community and business can work together for positive outcomes.

“Strong communities and neighbourhoods are based on connections and partnerships and we are very pleased to be jointly supporting I Love Brighton along with the new sponsors.

“It has become a very popular event on the calendar and a chance for locals and visitors to celebrate all the fantastic groups and communities which make Brighton a unique place.”

I Love Brighton is a free event held at Thomson Park from 11am to 3pm on Waitangi Day, Monday 6 February 2023.
