Things to do  |  19 Jul 2022

There’s plenty of school holiday fun to be had as the second week of Kidsfest continues on its merrymaking way.

Some of the highlights from this week’s line-up of activities include a Harry Potter extravaganza that will have you roaring with laughter and thrills and spills on inflatable rafts.

The annual programme of events aimed at school-aged children runs until Sunday July 24 and features a range of activities across Christchurch, Banks Peninsula, Selwyn and Waimakariri.

Boat, Lifejacket, Togs, Let’s Go!

Has your 8 – 14 year old ever worn a lifejacket, or been in a boat? Even if they've been before, this hour-long, fun-filled water-based activity can be enjoyed regardless of experience or swimming ability. Various sessions are available at Graham Condon Recreation and Sport Centre, Te Pou ToeToe: Linwood Pool and Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport Centre until Thursday. Bookings are essential.

Potted Potter

Potted Potter condenses all seven Harry Potter books into 70 hilarious minutes. Don’t know the difference between a horcrux and a Hufflepuff? Not a problem! This show will have you gasping for air regardless and it’s perfect for all ages – from six to Dumbledore. Potted Potter is on at the Court Theatre every night at 7pm plus there’s a 2pm matinee on Saturday 23 July.

Kidsfest Museum Hunts!

Come to the Air Force Museum in Wigram where there’s lots of fun and rewards to be had searching the museum for clues on this art-inspired Museum Hunt. Suitable for 3- 12 years, there’s no need to book but caregivers are required.

Behind the scenes at Willowbank
