Local body elections  |  15 Dec 2022

Nominations for the Innes ward Community Board by-election close in a week, and Electoral Officer Jo Daly is encouraging candidates to come forward now.

There is one nomination to date. The list of confirmed nominations is at ccc.govt.nz/elections and is updated daily.

Nominations close at noon on Thursday 22 December, and candidates are asked not to leave it to the last day as incomplete information can lead to an invalid nomination.

Voting in the by-election for someone to represent the Innes ward, to fill the vacancy on the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board, starts on Thursday 26 January and closes at noon on Friday 17 February, when the progress results will be announced.

The vacancy was created after the successful candidate in the 2022 local elections, Shreejana Chhetri, resigned. There were nine candidates for the two Innes Community Board vacancies in the 2022 local elections.

“This is a great opportunity to someone who cares about the Innes community, if you’ve considered being an elected representative, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me – I'm available to discuss the nomination process and what's involved,” says Jo Daly.

“You can stand for election if you are a New Zealand citizen, enrolled on the electoral roll and aged 18 or older.”

Candidates are encouraged to come forward now so they can get all the information they need. Visit ccc.govt.nz/elections, email elections@ccc.govt.nz or phone Jo Daly on 03 941 8581 to find out more.
